Race Report by Brandon Andrews- December 7th 2013Well that was just cold. Temperatures in the single digits on a Sunday morning really don't help getting up. This was the last race for the Wisconsin CX Series and we were not going to miss it. Even though the thought ran through our mind a number of times that morning. Due to car being frozen and not wanting to start, Laura and I were running late to make the race in Milwaukee. The venue was fine, but nothing exciting. However, we were very appreciative of the indoor area with large fireplace. That was amazing. I got signed in and dressed to race only to spend about 10 minutes on the bike before my race. It was cold, I was frustrated and just could not get going. It was not how I wanted to spend the last race. I finished 17th out of the group with a number of DNF racers on the list, I don't blame them it was cold. See the photo of my beard with ice from the condensation and my nose. Laura had a so so race too finishing 6th. I did get some shots of her racing, but she did not brave the cold to get shots of me. :) Shimano did enjoy the trip with us, his favorite part was the fireplace. The low turn out at the State Championships was disappointing, but hopefully next year will be better. Looking forward to racing Cyclocross in 2014! -Brandon Andrews. |
