Wisco folks were treated to some fantastic weather for the Dairy Roubaix gravel "race" ride. A group of us consisting of Laura, Dustin, Mike, David, Travis, Brandon and former member Gregg all had a great day on the bike. Chilly morning temps turned to just great weather for the rest of the day. The ride consists of about 450 riders navigating the hilly gravel back roads that wind near the Mississippi and Wisconsin River. We tried to all start together however, 450 people make that a little difficult, so we ended up all taking our own pace and just enjoying the 54+ miles of sunshine. The course is deceptively hard especially being that for most of us this was the first distance ride of the season. Laura, Brandon, Nick and Gregg stayed together for most of the day while David, Travis put some faster times on. Dustin and Mike held solid and had a great time between the two groups. All in all a successful ride on one of our favorite "courses". The day was not complete until everyone finished the course with the "cyclocross" Finish. A few of us were even able to sit back at a local dinner afterwards and enjoy lunch together as a team. -Brandon Andrews (AMR Founder) |
