Angry Monkeys Racing![]() 2022 will be the 10th year for Angry Monkeys Racing. The team started as a CX & XC team in Georgia. While our primary focus is MTB (XC) & Cyclocross (CX), we do have members who race/ride for AMR in other disciplines from Triathlons to Adventure to Running events. Some members choose to focus on charity rides and not race oriented events.
This team/club is for ALL levels of riding and racing experience. Our goals are to foster a community of cycling enthusiasts who want more in racing, to promote healthy competition in a fair and positive way, and to encourage one another as we each strive to bring out our personal best. Using the hashtag #RideAMR we continue to celebrate days we are on the bike. The largest group of monkeys reside in Wisconsin, however we have members in many other states such as Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania and beyond. Angry Monkeys Racing is registered with USA Cycling in Wisconsin. USAC Club ID: 15026 Angry Monkeys Racing was started by Brandon Andrews and Bill Bailey. Their vision and hard work took this bad idea they came up with, and made it a reality. Bill has since retired from the world of AMR, but can still be found on the back roads of Savannah riding his bike in happiness. There are four appointed members to the Board of Directors. These five members maintain the directive originally proposed by the founding two. Sponsors Due to the large number of our members being in the cycling industry, we are not sponsored by bike companies, shops, or specific bike branding. We love brands/sponsors who just want to help support us while we support cycling. We will not require you to ride a specific bike or eat a certain bar, you do you, we will support you as we can. If you want to contact us about support or maybe a secret membership deal to our members, please use the contact form. |

Angry Monkeys Racing - Board of Directors

AMR is run by five board members. One spot is held by one of the founders, other four board members are elected or appointed annually by members in February for each year. Anyone can nominate a member or themselves for any of the remaining board positions. If only four members are nominated, then no elections will be held. Board members or members can be removed by a unanimous vote of the four other board members if the need arises.

Our Rules
1. Have Fun Racing/Riding. That doesn't mean we're not serious about racing, but none of us are Pro racers, we all have jobs, families and other commitments we have to train and race around. Heck, you don't have to even race, although highly encouraged. We do expect that you grow your local community and show off your cool kits. We encourage you to get out on charity rides, gravel events, adventure events, races (any discipline is fine), USA Cycling events, or other approved events. We also understand life changes and sometimes we are not able to reach your cycling goals, but we want to help encourage you to get there and beyond. We also know some members are affiliated with other teams or organizations, that's cool with us as we just want to support the growth of cycling overall.
2. No Flinging Poo & Don't be a Snob. We expect everyone to display good sportsmanship, and be respectful of each other, our competitors, and the race officials. All our riders and potential members are valued not for the results they achieve, but the spirit they bring to the team.
3. Suit Up. While we encourage everyone to wear the whole kit (because it's awesome), we understand if you can only get a jersey. Jersey or other team representation is expected for races/events & podium pictures. If non-AMR kit items are worn with our jersey, they shouldn't detract from our kit's appearance. Members are not required to purchase the latest and greatest kit, but who would turn down awesome new gear?
4. Jump In. Get involved. Be Social. Ask questions on our super secret, private, team-only Facebook page - this is also where we team-up for rides and races regionally. Hang-out at races with teammates, even if you are unable to race. Members are expected to submit race/event updates with photos for the website. Follow us on Twitter (@RideAMR), Instagram (@RideAMR) we promise we'll follow back. We also have a Facebook fan page, so your mom can follow us, too.
5. Make it Official. Be loud, and proud of our team. When renewing your USA Cycling license add AMR to your team. USAC Club ID: 15026 While having a USA Cycling licenses isn't required, if you plan on racing more than a 4 races, you should go ahead and get a license. Our members are free to race another discipline for another team. For example you might race MTB for us, but then CX or Road for another team. We hope you'll race everything as an AMR, but we understand - just make sure you list it on your USA Cycling license, and let us know so we're not confused.
6. No Hope in Dope. Illegal drug use and doping are not beneficial to the sport of cycling and have no place on this team. DOPERS SUCK socks can be worn proudly.
7. Smile. Members waive the rights to photos for the website, Facebook group, our sponsors, other AMR publications, etc. We will post a bio on the website introducing you.
8. Fair is Fair. We don't have an "elite" team like some, so any team deals, discounts, and sponsorships must be available to all members.
9. Cycling is dangerous... and fun. Ride within your limits as an Angry Monkey and always obey local laws and rules. Each member is responsible for their own insurance and decision making.
10. Pay to play. Scratch that, we are waiving the fee for membership for 2022. So Its FREE!!!!! $%#& YEAH! If you want to donate please do so. We are always pushing our goal to promote cycling. Donations help us pay for our USA Cycling registration, the website, and other overall club expenses.
What you get
Support- Not always in riding, but a community to ask questions and get help. We cannot always have group rides or large numbers at races, most of the time you will be self supporting, however we are there in spirit and to answer any questions. We do always encourage starting new group rides or going to events together, step up if you have an event or ride you want to do.
AMR Propaganda- We will offer swag items to purchase throughout the year, sometimes caps, bags, buffs or whatever we really want. So make suggestions. Name decals are through veloink.com
Representation- Through our social media channels we want to promote your accomplishments. You rock, so we want to tell others.
Brand- We are not a billboard for brands that don't represent you. We do get a little help from some industry leaders, but we want the focus to be on you and having fun racing, not the logos on your back.
Attachment- Being on a team is just fun. Nothing better than when Brad Sohner, Dave Towle, Zach Schuster or maybe even Bob Roll say your name and start talking about the team. You are attached to something great.
