Joey King summed it up "I rode my bicycle and it hurt a lot so I did it again." It was fantastic racing/hurting this past weekend in Waterloo, Wisconsin. The Trek CXC is a C1 event on Saturday and C2 on Sunday. The best CX event in Wisconsin hands down. Saturday we had a number of AMR racers out in different Categories. Joey King Raced masters and singlespeed; Mio Suzuki raced womens 4; Carl Baker (AMR member racing in Bontrager kit), Derek Slates & myself raced both SS and CX4 on Saturday; Laura Andrews did the CX3 Women's; Julie Saeler (AMR member racing for Trek CXC) raced Women's 2's; Shannon Mortimer did the women's masters, CX3, & CX45 mens race! It was a hard day of racing thankfully the tent was well positioned for quick breaks and resting. Laura also had a cooler full of Sassy Cow Chocolate milk ready for our team for post races. #wisconsindariy Single speed race was fun because we had a large group at the start, although that changed very quickly as Derek had mechanical's and Carl involved in a crash. In the 4/5 group I got caught up in the banners trying to avoid a crash and could not get out, so it ended up being a chase of the back of the field. Overall everyone survived and had a great time.
Sunday we decided to do it all again. This time it was just Joey, Shannon, Laura, Carl, myself & Julie racing. The previous days races had gotten to me so this day just was about survival. Again everyone had a great day and fantastic end to the weekend. Looking forward to this race next year. Three AMR racers descended upon the 33rd Annual Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival earlier this month. Joey King, Brett Stoffregan and Nick Niemann all had great times racing the fat bikes. Joey raced his single speed steed. Congrats to all three guys having fun on bikes.
Another fantastic day of racing in Wisconsin. The Cyclocross season has been great so far. Quick update on who and what. Michael VanDyke placed 23rd in the CX5 group, as one of his first races with the team this year. Joey King raced Masters 55+ but not sure what he ended up with due to a results issue. Joey and I raced the Single speed group he was 19th and we think that I placed 25th in the SS Group but again results were having a bad day. Laura placed 13th in the women's 3's. I finished the day with one more race in the Cat 4's group placing 39th in the large field after being exhausted in the previous race. I did catch a Revolution Cycling guy right on the line. :)
